Why do we do church and why do we do it the way that we do? How a church answers these questions will help people to understand the role of the church and the role of the individual in the church.
The church has 2 main purposes. First, the church is to be the hands and feet of Jesus on the earth. We are God's representatives on earth. We are the tool that God uses to bring people into His kingdom. We bring hope to the hopeless and sight to the blind.
Second, the church is to take care of itself. The people in the church are to share each others' burdens, encourage each other, strengthen each other, hold each other up. The church doesn't just point the non-believers to Jesus, we point each other to Jesus. In doing so the world sees our love and our unity and they see the unity and the love between the Father and the Son.
It is important to remember these purposes because as we do we realize that church isn't about my preference or my desires. In all that we do we do to fulfill these 2 purposes. Amazingly, these purposes feed off of each other because both purposes have the ultimate goal of pointing to and glorifying Jesus.
At the Chapel CFalls our Sunday mornings are primarily designed to encourage and build up the believer but also be accessible to the unbeliever. Come and join us to learn more.
